Split a subtitle file
Split subtitles at the same point where you split the video. The second half can be rebased to start from zero so it drops straight onto part two.
Choosing the split point
Enter the time as a timecode such as 00:45:00, or in seconds or milliseconds. Cues that finish before the split go to the first half; cues that start after it go to the second.
Cues that straddle the split
By default a cue spanning the split point goes to whichever half holds most of it. You can also force it into the first or the second half.
Times in the second half
With rebasing on, the split time is subtracted from every timestamp in the second half — the right choice when part two of the video starts at the split. Turn it off to keep the original times.
Frequently asked questions
Can I split into more than two parts?
Yes, by repeating the split. Paste the second half back into the tool and cut it again at the next point.
Can I download both halves?
Yes. Each half has its own download button and its own output format.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. Everything runs as JavaScript inside your browser and the file contents never leave your machine, which makes it safe for unreleased scripts and confidential recordings.
Is it free? Do I need to sign up?
It is free, needs no account and nothing to install, and there are no usage limits.
