Online subtitle editor
Open a subtitle file as a table and edit the timings and the text directly. Save it back in whichever format you need — everything happens in your browser.
What you can do
Edit the start time, end time and text of every cue, add and delete rows, run a find and replace across the whole file (case sensitive or not) and see each cue’s duration. Changes apply immediately and you can save as SRT, VTT, ASS, SBV, LRC, plain text or CSV.
Writing timecodes
The time fields accept 00:01:23,456 as well as 00:01:23.456, 1:23.4 or a plain number of milliseconds. Whatever you type is normalised as you leave the field.
Large files
Everything is held in browser memory, so files with thousands of cues open fine. Nothing is persisted, though, so download your work before closing the page.
Frequently asked questions
Is my work saved automatically?
No. Because nothing is sent anywhere, there is no server-side storage. Download the file when you are done.
Does find and replace support regular expressions?
Yes. Turn on the regex option and you can also use capture references such as $1 in the replacement. With it off, the search text is matched literally.
Can I preview against the video?
Not yet — this is a table editor. For timing work, pair it with the Shift timing tool and the Renumber and repair tool.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. Everything runs as JavaScript inside your browser and the file contents never leave your machine, which makes it safe for unreleased scripts and confidential recordings.
