Why use these tools

Nothing is uploaded

A subtitle file is small, but it is also the script of a video that may not be public yet. Every tool here runs as JavaScript in your browser, so the file never reaches a server.

Five formats and Japanese encodings

Convert freely between SRT, WebVTT, ASS/SSA, SBV and LRC. Files saved as Shift_JIS or UTF-16 — common for Japanese subtitles — are detected and rewritten as UTF-8.

No sign-up, no limits

There is no account to create and nothing to install. Open the page and start working; there are no conversion counts or file-size caps.

Frequently asked questions

Are my subtitle files uploaded?

No. Every conversion runs as JavaScript inside your browser, so file contents never cross the network. The page keeps working offline once it has loaded.

Which formats are supported?

Reading covers SRT, WebVTT, ASS/SSA, SBV and LRC; writing adds plain text and CSV. The source format is detected automatically.

My subtitles are out of sync — which tool do I need?

If the error is constant, use Shift timing. If it grows as the video plays, the frame rate is wrong: use the Frame rate and speed tool, which scales the timeline instead of offsetting it.

My subtitles show up as gibberish.

Load the original file into the Fix encoding tool. Shift_JIS, EUC-JP and UTF-16 are detected and converted to UTF-8. Pasting already-garbled text cannot be repaired — the original bytes are needed.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. It behaves the same in mobile browsers on iOS and Android, including the file picker.
